"As a resident of the Graham/Puyallup area for most of my life, I am pleased with the opportunity to serve as a Commissioner with Graham Fire. We have a great community, and customer support, and we need to keep it that way.

I graduated from Puyallup High School in 1983 and shortly thereafter spent 20 years in the semi-trailer and cargo container repair industry… during that time, I spent six and a half years of that as a volunteer firefighter in Pierce County. Since 2005 I have been presently employed with S.E. Thurston Fire Authority.

I am a proud resident of the Graham community, and pleased to support them, along with Graham Fire."

"It is an honor to have been appointed to the Graham Fire & Rescue Board of Commissioners as an outsider voice, representing the citizens of District 21.

I am a Client Services Director at Care Net Pregnancy & Family Services, helping women and families. In June I am completing a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Leadership at Seattle University.

My interest in advocacy and policy has led me to be involved in local and national politics, including serving on the Rules Committee for the Republican National Convention in 2016.

I have been married for 21 years and a proud parent of two college-aged adults."

Commissioner Ryan PortmannPosition 5: Commissioner Ryan Portmann
It is an honor to serve the citizens of Graham Fire and Rescue as one of your Fire Commissioners. Although I was appointed in late 2016, I am very familiar with Graham Fire and Rescue, having previously served as a volunteer firefighter for the District in the early to mid 90's, as well as more recently on the Chief's Citizen Advisory Board.

My time as a volunteer firefighter with Graham Fire and Rescue affirmed my desire to pursue a career in public safety. I have been a police officer for nearly twenty years and currently serve as a Captain for Puyallup Police Department.

I am the proud father of two daughters that keep my wife and I very busy as they pursue their interests.

I welcome the opportunity to serve the citizens of Graham Fire and Rescue as one of your Fire Commissioners.

Fire Chief Ryan BaskettFire Chief Ryan Baskett
Fire Chief Ryan Baskett was born September 29th, 1963 in Tacoma and raised locally in Graham, Washington. He graduated from Bethel High in 1982 and later attended College, receiving a Degree in Fire Administration. Immediately out of high school, he worked in the construction industry as a carpenter and a supervisor. He eventually started and ran his own residential construction business before entering the fire service.

Ryan met his wife Christy and was married in 1985. They have a son Jake, who is living in Colorado and a daughter Chelsey living locally. They have been blessed with one grandson, Garrett, from their daughter Chelsey. Both Ryan and Christy are well connected to the community as the Baskett family is fairly large and well planted in the area. Christy is the grand-daughter of aviation pioneer John Thun.

As Assistant Chief he was instrumental in the development and building of the department infrastructure, purchasing several new medic units, fire engines and a new ladder truck. He developed the fire departments in house apparatus service and maintenance program, reducing overall cost associated with fleet maintenance. He project managed the construction of all three new facilities since 2004. The facilities were built on time and under budget, demonstrating fiscal responsibility of tax payer dollars. For the past several years Chief Baskett was assigned to manage all emergency operations before taking over as Fire Chief on July 1, 2013.
